With older hotels like the Tropicana and Plaza recently completing renovation projects, the Golden Gate has decided it's their turn to make some improvements.
The hotel is the oldest in Las Vegas dating back to 1906. It's also currently one of the smallest with only 106 rooms.
The expansion will add a five story building to the property containing mostly suites. The casino and other public areas will also be extended and renovated.
There's been a lot of good news for Fremont Street recently with new restaurants, bars and hotel renovation plans. Hopefully this will help the Golden Gate stay competitive downtown.
As long as they keep serving their $1.99 shrimp cocktail I know I'll be stopping by.
